Corporate Governance beats Corporate Social Responsibility
Survey of investor relations managers of 21 AEX funds and 11 Midkap corporations
University of Nyrenode
Mar 2004 Netherlands Investment - Ethical and SRI, Corporate Governance
This research reveals that, for the average investor, corporate governance is a far more important topic than corporate social responsibility (CSR). Option schemes for top managers, the appointment of commissioners and the voting rights of shareholders in the investment strategy count far more than corporate policy regarding, for example, child labour, discrimination and human rights. The average investor would appear to have a relatively limited interest in CSR themes.
