The Pensions Authority has published statistics for DB schemes which have been compiled from analysis of Annual Actuarial Data Returns. In 2016, for the 628 continuing DB schemes subject to the funding standard, the total assets totalled €60.8bn and the total liabilities were €58.1bn. The total assets and liabilities of the 50 largest DB schemes were €43.4 bn and €42.6 respectively, which amounts to approximately 73% of the total liabilities for all active and frozen DB schemes.
