In its response to the Treasury consultation document on the future of long term savings products, Sainsbury’s Bank is calling on all major political parties to work together to present a united front in addressing the growing savings gap problem. The Bank strongly supports the call for savings and investment products to be simplified.  However, in the drive to address the savings gap, it also recommends that the Government should provide a guarantee against part of the money consumers invest in the proposed new products falling in value. This forms part of its recommendations to increase consumer confidence in long term savings products.
