Research by Sackers has revealed that 80% of pension schemes support the restructuring of DB pension schemes in some circumstances. Of the 50 individuals from the UK's top DB pension schemes surveyed, 41% thought the DB pensions industry was in crisis but there was a range of views on how to tackle the deficits. These ranged from 36% suggesting reducing annual inflation rises to 8% suggesting cutting overall benefits.

According to a survey by Sackers, a quarter of pension trustees admit that their scheme is "not at all" compliant with The Pensions Regulator's (TPR) defined contribution code of practice which is due to come into force this month. Despite this, 82% of respondents believed there should be a requirement to show that their scheme is compliant with the Code and TPR's guidance.
