Old Mutual Actuaries and Consultants
16 May 2006 South Africa Savings, Investment - General, Funding and Minimum Funding Requirement, Administration
The recently conducted 2006 Old Mutual Retirement Fund Survey, conducted by Old Mutual Actuaries and Consultants (OMAC), has brought to light a number of critical management issues that need to be addressed within the next three years. The three most critical management issues retirement funds face are: maximising investment performance, improving fund governance, and controlling the cost of administration and risk. The survey was conducted on behalf of OMAC amongst a representative sample of 60 local retirement funds comprising a total of 92,000 active members and 33,000 pensioners. The funds included in the sample were taken from a cross-section of industry sectors.
