Sovereign pension funds have great potential, says report
Sovereign pension funds have great potential, says report
Morgan Stanley
24 Aug 2007 WORLDWIDE Worldwide News, Investment - General
In a report on sovereign pension funds (SPFs) from Morgan Stanley, authors Stephen Jen and Charles St-Arnaud propose that these funds have great potential to be an important force augmenting the impact of sovereign wealth funds (SWFs), which are set to be one of the most important structural factors for the financial markets in coming years. The study states that the SPFs in many countries will become much more outward-oriented than before, just like the SWFs, ie, the ‘home bias’ is likely to decline sharply for many of these massive funds, with important implications for the international capital markets. The authors urge investors to pay attention to this category of funds.
