Report on the future of the life insurance sector
Mercer Oliver Wyman
Jun 2004 United Kingdom Miscellaneous
According to this research, shareholder value among global life insurers will grow in real terms by 6% per annum over the next decade, outpacing by 50% global GDP expectations and all other sectors of the retail financial services market, as the industry emerges from the market correction of the last four years. According to the researcher, value will be concentrated among a smaller number of players as polarisation between strong and weak life companies intensifies.

Jan 2004 WORLDWIDE Miscellaneous
According to this report, the global financial services industry stands valued at $6.7 trillion, exceeding its 2001 peak, and is poised to sustain this growth. The research says the financial services sector is on track to triple in value by 2013, but that shareholder performance varies significantly amongst industry segments. The findings show that the distribution of valuations has shifted over the last five years, both across and within segments, with companies which have successfully repositioned themselves to target higher value segments posting particularly strong performances.
