According to research by the Intergenerational Foundation, 78,000 retired public sector workers are receiving an annual pension of at least £25,900, which is more than the average annual salary in the UK. The report entitled "Are Government Pensions Unfair on the Younger Generation?" also reveals that the taxpayer's total liability for public sector pensions is equivalent to £45,000 per UK household and totals £1.2trn.
