The Pensions Committee of the Groupe Consultatif Actuarial Européen has produced a report entitled "Avoiding Pitfalls In Retirement: A Report on Defined Contribution Pensions". The report looks at the risks posed by improving longevity, volatile investment markets and inflation uncertainty to individuals in a DC scheme and argues that these risks can be mitigated by careful scheme design and product choice.

A study from the Groupe Consultatif Actuarial Européen, which represents European Union actuarial associations, entitled "Minimum Technical Provisions for Defined Benefit Occupational Pensions in the EU: A Summary of Minimum Funding Requirements", has been issued. The study said the Groupe expected to see "significant" changes in the way discount rates and other pension fund assumptions are determined under the occupational pension fund directive.
