The results of Gissings qualitative survey reveal that HR Directors' three main concerns regarding pension funds are final-salary schemes, with 21.31% of respondents choosing this as one of their top three concerns,  A-day changes (10.66%) and Pension Protection Fund issues (7.38%). They come as little surprise as, according to Gissings, the main concerns have not changed or dissipated over time.

According to this on line survey, choice over benefits is important to employees. Of the respondents, 88% would like to have the flexibility to decide which benefits they receive from their employer. Only 30% of those who replied have any choice over the benefits they receive.

This survey shows that confidence in having enough money in retirement is not high for members of both defined benefit and defined contribution schemes. 79% of the respondents were either ‘very concerned’ or ‘somewhat concerned’ about their own plan’s ability to deliver.
