A new survey by eShare of 114 pension funds has revealed that 55% of schemes do not want sensitive scheme information to be held by their advisers, a sentiment that is echoed by 63% of advisers themselves.

Between October 2007 and February 2008 eShare undertook a study of 192 schemes to discover how green the pensions industry is. 71% of schemes said they do not actively pursue environmental issues and a further 7% said they weren't interested in eco-friendly issues. However, 94% of participants believe their scheme could be more environmentally friendly.

The conclusions of the latest eShare Governance Survey have revealed an almost unanimous belief that the governance-related workloads of trustees and pensions departments are going to increase over the coming years. However, almost all schemes felt that technology had a key role to play in reducing the burden on all parties and helping meet future demands.
