Commission on Living Standards
31 Oct 2012 United Kingdom State Pensions
The final report of the Commission on Living Standards claims that millions of households are heading for a long period of stagnant living standards unless bold steps are taken to ensure that growth over the next decade is broadly shared. Recommendations include scrapping generous pension tax reliefs to the very wealthy, reducing the lifetime allowance for pension contributions to £1m and that National Insurance payments should be extended beyond the State Pension Age (SPA), which would raise around £800m per year.
