Can I Phone a Friend?: Research amongst Active Private Investors
Research amongst Active Private Investors
Cavendish Asset Management (CAM)
Nov 2002 United Kingdom Investment - Management
This survey was conducted amongst 203 individuals who hold, or have bought in the last three years, stockmarket-based investments such as shares, equity ISAs, PEPs or unit trusts, apart from any pension policies or privatisation/windfall shares. The results reveal marked differences in investment strategies across age groups. Younger investors believe that they take a low risk approach to investment, but they rarely monitor their investments, they construct small portfolios of directly held equities and they rely on the advice of their friends.
