The researcher says that investors now have ample understanding and opportunity to reallocate assets to reduce climate change risk and invest in companies offering solutions to accelerated global warming.

On 31 May 2002, 35 institutional investors respresenting in excess of US$4.5 trillion wrote to the Chairmen of the FTSE500 Global Index companies. They asked for investment relevant information relating to greenhouse gas mitigation. This report presents an analysis of the responses. Amongst the findings is the assertion that carbon risks are generally not well understood by financial institutions.
