The British Bankersí Association fully appreciates the need for the UK to review all aspects of its financial regulation and corporate governance arrangements following the high profile corporate collapses in the United States last year and believes that many of the measures now being brought forward constitute a natural progression in the regulatory framework underpinning the corporate sector and the audit profession. However, the Association does have concerns about prescription contained within the proposed changes to the Combined Code and believes that the proposed changes stray beyond the establishment of principles.
