A study by BNY Mellon and the Economist Intelligence Unit, which examines the future constraints and challenges of the insurance industry, has found that 70% of respondents agreed that individuals will have insufficient private savings and pensions as a long-term consequence of new regulation. Over half of respondents (54%) believe that regulation reduces one of the industry's core functions of transforming financial market risk into reliable streams of retirement income and other benefits.
