The Asian Bond Market - From Fragmentation to Aggregation
Asian Bond Market Research
Barclays Capital
Sep 2003 WORLDWIDE Investment - General
In this research report, the researcher presents an upbeat assessment of the potential for regional financial integration while outlining practical steps which could be taken to make an Asian bond market operational. It says that Asian countries can reach the critical mass necessary for financial development much faster than if they were to grow their individual markets on their own. Because regional financial integration and the development of an efficient regional bond market will require complex institutional, regulatory and legal changes, the researcher suggests establishing an independent, professionally-run Asian Financial Institute (AFI).
